Someone Shared a Document With You!

An unexpected OneDrive, SharePoint, or Google Drive notification invites you to open an important confidential document.

Protect yourself

Confirm the sender and the sharing request before opening it or entering credentials.

How it works

An unexpected OneDrive, SharePoint, or Google Drive notification invites you to open an important confidential document.

Often the notification is real, sent from a legitimate account that was itself compromised. The document inside is a single button that leads to a fake login page.

Red flags

  • A share from a contact you haven't dealt with in months
  • A document with a generic name like "Proposal" or "Remittance"
  • Being asked to sign in again after you've already opened the file

If it already happened

If you already clicked and signed in: change that password now, from the real site, and turn on multi-factor authentication. If you sent money, call your bank immediately; wire and ACH recalls work best in the first hours. Tell your IT provider so they can check for forwarding rules and other sign-ins on the account.

Where OpenEFA fits

OpenEFA MailGuard blocks most of these before they reach an inbox. The ones that get through are usually the most carefully targeted, which is why your people still need to know the pattern.
